About Chris

I am a museum practitioner, educator and artist who has worked in museums, galleries and heritage settings since 2004. Working across learning and exhibitions, I have acted as an advocate for audiences, brokering collaborative and co-productive processes that connect institutions with the audiences and participants they seek to work with.

I have led creative engagement, programmes and exhibitions teams at Crafts Council, Barbican and UCL Museums. I currently work independently as a consultant, producer and learning curator across a range of heritage, arts and education projects. For more information on my current projects find me on LinkedIn

My past work also includes working in museums including Imperial War Museum London, IWM North, Museum of Croydon, Bristol M Shed, Wellcome Collection, ss Great Britain, as well as work with a range of arts and sector bodies including English National Opera and A New Direction.

I have guest-lectured and led modules on heritage and cultural engagement with a range of universities including the University of Huddersfield, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Birkbeck, Queen Mary University and UCL’s Institute of Education.

I see myself as an activist for change within the sector, and an advocate for best practice around strategy, engagement and participation. I am interested in supporting others to develop a sense of self and their own practice within their work in museums, as a process of navigating between institutional ways of working and the highly codified standards we must work within. I am experienced in delivering a wide range of formal and informal learning activity, and am also trained as an oral historian. I have used this mix of skills to work in a wide range of roles including developing training programmes, creative events and exhibitions.

I am also a creative maker working in textiles and digital making, I also have experience facilitating slow making and creative arts activity in museums and heritage settings.
